my filofax week #5

So, it's been a mixed week for me. From good news within my personal life (we got an offer accepted on a house we love) to bad news at the week - in the form of having to return my Affair - and yet more bad news at the weekend (apologies for some expletives used on Saturday night on Twitter!), here is my week for you all to see.

So, what has changed and what have I realised looking back?

{ Limited Space }
As you can see on the Wednesday, I ran out of space to write 'offer accepted' in dashed writing!
Also, some days are more cramped than others.

{ No Day Structure }
This has meant that my productivity this week has been somewhat lacking. However, I have more personal life stuff planned for next week so it will be more busy than this week seen above.

What have you realised after looking through your previous week?

  1. I love seeing your filofax weeks. Very inspiring. Too bad mine are really too much of a bore to post on my blog. Sorry to hear about your affair. I really liked it. Too pricey for me but seeing how you used it was great. Will they be able to replace it for you?

    1. Unfortunately, the replacement they sent also had a faulty ring mechanism and so that had to go back too. They've given me a refund and I'm waiting on a Filofax I really love... I mean, I love my Finchleys but the Affair that something to it. I'd quite like a Compact size Filofax with gold rings so I'll probably wait for something like that :) x

  2. I can't believe the number of people who have had problems with the ring mechanisms on their filofaxes. You would think with all the complaints, filofax would change the mechanisms they use. I am really sorry to hear about your Affair though. That really is a shame.

    1. Maybe it's more the ring mechanism company that is the problem, not Filofax? Though I don't know where they source them from and obviously, I don't know of any alternative companies even if I did know. I've heard reports that the older style Filofax models have much better rings mechanisms so maybe it's a case of decreasing quality as the years have gone by (if they have stuck with the same company) or maybe a change in their sourcing of the rings?

  3. Either I've been lucky, or my vintage filofaxes simply have more robust ring mechanisms than today's models. Having said that, if you do have rings that are easily bent, it's just as easy to bend them back again with a pair of round nose pliars.

    1. My other Filofaxes (4 Finchleys - 3 personal, 1 A5; personal Panama; personal Finsbury) have rings that are fine... and I have had my Finsbury and one of the Finchleys for several years now. When the rings were so wonky, as they were in the replacement, I could see no way where they could be bent back with pliars?

      And with a Filofax costing that much, I didn't feel it was appropriate to try and the rings should have been perfect when the Filofax is new anyway :)

  4. Congrats on the house offer! Lots more dates for your diary to come then, like completion, removal, new carpets etc.
    Thanks for showing us your pages. It makes me feel like I did as a teenager when I sat next to the girl who could really do bubble writing in lots of colour. I think/work in monochrome and have serious colour envy for those who go multichromatic! I would try but..... it just never quite works :s
