my week #182

This is my penultimate week on psychiatry and though I found it all very interesting, I'm quite certain it isn't a career path I envisage myself going down in the future. One thing I will miss are that ward rounds involve sofas or chairs and don't last five or six hours. I go onto Obstetrics and Gynaecology next - a specialty that I've been considering even before commencing medical school so I'm quite excited!

My planner is quite plain this week and I really like how it looks. This is mainly down to the fact that it's function over form now as I don't have the time to add in stickers or washi (both of which are now reserved mainly for my journal).

How has your week been?

  1. Have fun on O&G! Aside from learning what you need to know to pass medical school, I also learned what I do and don't want when one day I have children and it's my turn to be the patient!

  2. Hey Angela! I finished my O&G posting a few weeks ago, and boy, was it taxing. I think the first time I watched a lady give birth will forever be imprinted in my mind. The one thing about O&G is how 'hands-on' it can be, so remember to make good use of your time there.

    good luck!

    1. One consultant asked me what specialty interested me at this stage and I said 'O&G' and he goes 'oh, you don't like your sleep then'! So I'm already getting the impression that it's quite an intense specialty hehe.I'm really looking forward to it all :) thanks for the advice! x

  4. Have fun on OBGYN! It was one I wasn't looking forward to in med school, absolutely did not want to do after finishing the 6 week rotation, but one of the experiences I learned the most from and was most hands on. Great either way you look at it!

    1. Hi Chantelle! Thanks :) Hopefully I'll have a similar experience to you (apart from the not wanting to do it hehe, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if I did end up feeling that way!) :) x

  5. Love your planner, washi-taped or not! I hope you enjoy OBGYN. There are lots of fantastic "firsts" on that rotation. Even though it wasn't the specialty for me, it was certainly a memorable experience!

    1. Thank you :) Definitely will be a lot of 'firsts'! My one goal is to assist in a C-section (I've seen two as a work experience student so my aim is to first, see one as a medical student and then help with one hopefully!) :) x

  6. I love how simple your planner is! I've been using my filofax for school lately (I'm a senior at an American college), and definitely been trying to maintain function over form. I love the Rifle Paper Co. planner. Have a great next week!
