I converted my sister to a Filofax diary!

My sister came home on Friday for the bank holiday weekend and that night, we ended up talking about diaries. She confessed that she had actually been thinking about getting a Filofax as her diary for the next academic year and obviously, I jumped onto this idea of hers.

I offered her one of the organisers that are currently not in use and she opted for my personal Finsbury in Raspberry - one that I had only used for two weeks - and I promptly began spouting out everything that might be useful for her. (I'm such a good sister, right?)

The next day, we ventured into Paperchase where she bought a Paperchase mid-year 2012 − 2013 week on two pages diary. Later that night, I took some pictures of the pack itself (seriously, it’s so much better value for money than the Filofax diaries) which included the diary, tabs, notepaper, timetable refills, year planner refills and more! And it was only £5. I think I paid £8 for my 2013 Filofax week on two pages refills and it doesn’t have all of those features either!

Anyway, after all this, I dug out my whole stash of spare inserts to find that I actually had some 2012 and 2013 inserts which she could have had! Never mind, at least this way, I could also get a sneak peek at the Paperchase inserts, eh?

I offered to give her loads of spare notepaper sheets (I have so many - I only realised this after getting all of my spare inserts out!); but she declined saying that she wouldn’t use it as there was plenty in the Paperchase pack anyway.

During our visit to Paperchase, I also bought a pack of stickers. These ‘animal face’ ones - I already have the ones from Artbox but then I realised these were actually the same but cheaper too! They have both versions of them and because I only have one of them, I just had to get this one too.

Look out for a Paperchase diary review - scheduled for the 14th of September as I have had so many blog post ideas lately - so stay tuned! Unfortunately, my sister won’t be the one writing it because she’s currently doing working in a lab over the summer (she’ll be heading into her third year of university in October) and she’ll be on her way back to London later this afternoon too, sob!

    1. Considering it's price, it's very good value for money and it isn't overly girly/masculine/cheesy/etc. I've already bought a Filofax Cotton Cream Week on 2 pages diary for 2013, otherwise I would also be getting a Paperchase one! x

    1. Course! She's not a big reader of blogs though so I don't think she'll be a regular visitor but I imagine she'll find the Files page handy :) x

  4. Those refills look very nice! Unfortunately, we don't have Paperchase stores in the US any longer. There used to be a large selection of their products in Borders Bookstores, but now that Borders is done, so is easy Paperchase access. Looking forward to your review; I'm esp curious about the paper quality.

I'd converted so many of my friends (and my sister) to Filofax during high school and college, but everyone went the way of PDAs (which led, of course, to smart phone apps and Google Calendar). It was always so much fun to page through other people's Filofaxes, talk about new little hacks, check out different inserts, &c. There's something about the up-close access, watching a person's use evolve and seeing the binders change over time. Well, now there are many excellent blogs (such as this one!).

    1. Oh that's such a shame :(

And I agree with you! During my third year at uni, I discovered that one of my friends had a Filofax too. Imagine the excitement hehe. We leafed through each other's and then shared tips about how to maximise productivity through their use, etc. x

  5. Can't wait for the paperchase diary review! I don't like how the week on 2 pages view all have Sat and Sun with such tiny space. I would assume people do more on the weekend since they don't have work so they schedule in trips to the grocery store, driving kids to soccer practice, meeting with friends for lunch, laundry, etc. I love your stickers too. I want to start collecting stickers to decorate my agenda. You are such a nice sister to share your love for Filofax!

    1. I agree with you on that! That's why I use the cotton cream WO2P instead as the space for all days are equal. And as you say, weekends are my busiest days cos that's when friends/family are free for activities which cannot be done on a weeknight :)

Haha, well, it took me three years to convert her! And because I don't use the Finsbury, I thought that it was better that it went to someone who would use it x
