my week #46

Another week down, only around 26 weeks or so before I start university (again!). I really want to do a countdown a la Imy's World, but I have yet to firm the university and course on UCAS yet. So, until I firm it (which will probably in mid-April sometime), I will have to sit tight and contain the excitement that is currently occupying my mind!

I have been trying to find temporary employment within a healthcare setting, but it has all been in vain as temporary healthcare jobs are few and far between so I may have to opt for a job in a different sector in order to tide me over until September.

Anyway, enough rambling. Here is my week :)

I'm trying to become a bit more minimalistic in how journal-like I have been keeping my diary pages but I also need colour and cute little things. That all sounds like a paradox, I know!

How has your week been?

  1. I like the slightly more minimalist look to your pages this week, Angela. I think having a bit more white space really helps the colourful parts to stand out better. And I also love how neat your writing always is :)

My own week was rather slow, but I'm looking forward to being more focused and getting more done in the coming week.

    1. Aw thank you :) I do agree though, with a bit more space, the colours do stand out better and it looks less cluttered and messy.

Hope you get more done this week :-) x

  2. That is great news about medical school. My sister is a doctor and she received a scholarship for med. school. She worked all four summers of college and then went straight to med. school. She probably would have appreciated the last summer off though because she said the first two years can be intense. It looks like you are well prepared. Obviously the content on your diary pages will change in September, but do you think that your pages will be just as colorful? Is the pen loop in your Kate Spade planner small? Mine is and only two of my pens fit. I guess I chose fashion over function on that aspect. Anyway good luck with the job search.

    1. Thank you! I'm not eligible for scholarships or bursaries from the university as this will be my second degree (I'm pretty much doing it the US way - degree first, then Medical School - but in the UK!). I think my pages will stay colourful as that is an integral part in how I plan and manage my time.

I've not used my Kate Spade in a few weeks' so I can't for the life of me remember about the pen loop. However, I do use Muji gels as my main pen and they are quite thin so I've never really had a problem with pen loops :) x

    2. Thanks for the reply. The Muji pens look nice and thin but I am not planning to buy more pens. I bought most of my pens before I bought my 2 personal planners (Filofax and Kate Spade). My pens are refillable and do not fit in either of the pen loops. I didn't know that the Filofax pen loop was not elastic before I ordered it because that detail was not available on the internet at the time. Anyway, I just think my KS planner is bulky. The closure is large and gets in the way, and the rings are large. I knew these details before I bought it, but now these details are annoying. I think that it is easy to get caught up in the brand name and how the planner looks. If you can find one that is very functional then that is great.

    3. Ah ok, fair enough. With Filofax organisers, I have found it hit and miss as to which ones have elasticated pen loops and which ones don't. My Smythson doesn't, nor does my Kate Spade agenda, but my Slimline Deco (Filofax) does. I don't mind though, as like I said, the Muji pens I use are quite thin in general.

I like the weight of the KS closure, but I'm not using that at the moment so maybe I haven't used it for long enough to get annoyed with it. I like having the option of something with bigger rings though which is why I love it :) I agree about the brand name and how the planner looks - but for me, that is one of the things that is important to me as the aesthetic appeal is something that I need to make me come back and use a planner over and over again. It seems you are still looking for your 'one' with regards to planning - it took me about six years to get here so definitely persevere and everything will work out :) x

    1. Hehe, yes, it is on in 20 minutes and Jimmy's back - I'm so excited for that alone! Shame it's the last in the series though. However, I've heard that there will be a third series so I must keep my ear and eyes out for when that will start :D x
