what's in my bag #10

After seeing the Modalu Pippa on Deborah's blog, I was convinced that this bag was my perfect one. Compartments (perfect for organising! A dream for someone like me!) and the lovely shell detailing... yum. So, since the summer, I've been lusting after this handbag. However, two months ago, one popped up on House of Fraser - and it was on sale! And because I had a lot of vouchers for HoF, I ended up getting this handbag for very cheap. I didn't get it in the more popular 'Shark' colour, but instead chose the 'neutral' colour. It looks like a pale, dusky, nude pink.

I've not seen any blog posts on this colour so I thought I'd incorporate that into this 'what's in my bag' post. So, at the front, you'll see this. The two mini zipped compartments are super handy for tissues, and throat lozenges, etc.

Before I get onto the topic of what I cart around with me in this bag, I just want to show a few pictures of the detailing that I love so much.

First up, the shell detailing on the main compartment zips (there are three compartments so, therefore, three zips):

And the shell-print lining:

The backside of the bag, there is a zipped compartment, which is extremely spacious. It was hard to take a picture of just how spacious it could be but trust me on this!

And that compartment at the back has this zip detail too:

So in the first big compartment, you're greeted with this sight:

The middle (smaller compartment):

And the other big compartment:

What is really deceptive about this bag is the space. It doesn't look as if it could hold much but the amount I can cram into it is unbelievable. However, I refrain from doing that because not only could it ruin the bag, it also bloody hurts to carry around so much on my shoulder/arm!

Everything laid out...

From top left: Paul and Joe bag that has make-up, medicines, etc; Kindle K4, Slimline Deco, The Body Shop almond handcream, Cath Kidston travelcard case, duck contact lens case (my sister gave me this as a present!), medical tape, iPhone 5, Luella purse, tissues, mirror, Burt's Bees lip balm and Softmints.

I'm trying to decrease the amount I carry around and this was what I carried on a recent trip to London. There were some papers in there too but these were only present in the journey to London and not on the way back.

Do you carry the kitchen sink, or do you try and carry as little as possible?

  1. I try and carry as little as possible, but I inevitably end up carrying the kitchen sink! I should really sort my bag out, but you know when you just can't face it?! We've still got snow here, though, and I can't really safely get out so I don't suppose I have much excuse!

    1. Haha, I know what you mean! It's taken me years to be so harsh with what I carry around now. A pack of plasters? nah, only one or two will do, etc. We had about 12cm of snow last night here, so I spent most of the day shovelling as we needed to get groceries :( wish we could have stayed in, it was freezing! x

  2. Oh the bag looks gorgeous! I've been looking for a really nice bag (as an investment) but I might look around some more before deciding.

I tend to carry a lot with me... I don't know how it happens, but I feel like I need to be prepared for the worst situations. Even if I minimise everything, my bag still feels really heavy!

    1. Hehe thank you :) It is lovely! I find that carrying around a larger bag means more things are chucked in when they don't need to be, so maybe a smaller bag might be better for you? one that's big enough for your essentials though - but the first step in that is deciding what is essential! :p Hope you are fruitful in your search! x

    1. Interesting! I'm more of a shoe-girl than a handbag girl to be honest - I only have five bags that I use on a regular basis, and one other (a clutch bag) which gets used once in a blue moon :)

You should do a Filofax of the day/week on Philofaxy ;) x

  4. I love this!
I always enjoy having a peek into what people carry around, and the bag is so lovely.
I actually just posted one myself, if you fancy a peek!

  5. Angela - Thanks so much for the mention! I love the color of your bag!!!! It really does look just lovely! I have to ignore the temptation to go on the Modalu site to take a look at the color. Congratulations on getting it. It really is deceptive, isn't it? I love all the different compartments. I'm currently using my small pippa in toffee.

    1. No problem! :) I had to link to your blog as that's the place that swayed my decision to get a Pippa. Before I saw it on your blog, I was a bit 'meh' towards it but after reading your post on it, I knew it made perfect sense - I'm always complaining that my bags don't have enough compartments!

The Modalu site is so tempting, it's not even funny. I'm on a no-spend challenge this year (luckily, I bought the Pippa at the end of November as the ban includes clothes, shoes and bags!) so I've been avoiding most online stores lately!

The small Pippa was tempting, but I thought it would be a bit too small and I didn't like the fact that not all of the compartments had a zip closure (I love me some zips, for that added safety aspect) x

    2. Glad I was able to help in your decision. I keep looking at the color of your bag....so very pretty. I do like the small quite a bit but I really need to slim down what I've been carrying when I use the small.

  6. I have the same handbag...(I do believe I helped inable DEM to get hers lol) and I am getting the same bag in FIG for my birthday in April. I have never used a handbag so consistantly until I got this one. The only reason I am not using it right now, is it is like -20 degrees where I live and I don't want it to crack or get damaged. I have never had such a fancy thing before. Great bag, thanks for sharing.

    1. Hehe that was one of a few Christmas presents from my sister :-) it's so cute that I don't really want to ruin it with the saline solution that my contacts go in :( x
